INTRODUCTION TO THE KAHOOLAWE ISLETS
Kahoolawe has two offshore islets, Puukoae and Aleale. Both are steep sea stacks located near shore on the south side of Kahoolawe, west of Kamohio Bay. The islets belong to the state and are under the jurisdiction of the Kahoolawe Island Reserve Commission (KIRC), which is tasked with managing and restoring Kahoolawe’s natural resources.
