Physical Features
Kaemi is a sparsely vegetated, basalt sea stack just south of Mokeehia and north of Puu Makawana. It is about 2 acres in size and 120 feet tall.

Regulations
Kaemi is state property. State and/or federal law protects all native wildlife and plants.

Birds
Small numbers of Wedge-tailed shearwaters were documented nesting on Kaemi in the 1980s.

Plants
A June 1982 survey collected 14 plant species, 8 native and 6 introduced. However, an April 2005 survey observed only 6 species on the islet, 4 native and 2 introduced. Drought may account for the decrease in species between 1982 and 2005.

Insects
No insect survey data is known.

Marine Organisms
No marine survey data is known.

Human Uses
Signs of recent human activity were seen on the islet in 2005 but no historical uses are known.

Threats
Weedy plants and human activity are potential threats to native plants and seabirds.
