Physical Features
Makoloaka is a steep sea stack about 0.25 acres in size and 80 feet high, with no landing areas. It is located near Papiha Point, just east of Wailua Iki Bay.

An aerial survey in April 2005 noted 10 plant species; 7 native and 3 alien. Of particular interest is the presence of Peucedanum sandwicense (makou), a rare and threatened species.
